Homeland
Posted on 11:52 by gaurav kumar

Have you guys been watching Homeland? Alex and I are obsessed. The show follows a bipolar CIA agent (Claire Danes), who suspects that a rescued prisoner of war (Damian Lewis), who has just returned to the United States, has actually become a terrorist. It is SO TENSE. You're on the edge of your seat for the whole show.
We got the first season on DVD and have been glued to it every night for the past week. It’s funny when you have the dvds and can watch all the shows in a row, because it gets in your head. Usually when we go to bed, we talk about Toby or life or whatever, but now we get in bed and we’re like, "Oh my gosh! What do you think her deal is?!!! Who do you think was on the call?!!"
P.S. Claire Dane's cryface.

Yada, yada, yada
Posted on 10:40 by gaurav kumar
Our friend Nora stopped by last night, and Toby fell madly in love with her. They both wore plastic red fire hats, naturally, and Nora also pretended to fall down, which is always a hit around here. But the piece de résistance was when Nora was telling me a story and said, "Yada, yada, yada." Toby burst into hysterical laughter. What wit! What timing! What funny sounding words! He couldn't get over it.
The whole scene reminded me of this classic Seinfeld clip:)

Mindy Kaling on friendship
Posted on 07:51 by gaurav kumar

Did you guys watch The Mindy Project this week? I was laughing out loud through the entire episode. If you haven't yet seen it, sneak away from your desk and watch it right now.
New York Magazine wrote a profile on Mindy a while back, and this paragraph has stuck with me: "My relationship with my mom is really the single most profound relationship that I’ve ever had in my life," Mindy tells me...But her voice breaks when she starts talking about how she sat down with a pen and paper and asked her mother to give her all the advice she could possibly give her before she died, and Kaling realized she’d never be able to ask her mother for advice again. “I said to her, ‘Mom, I’m going to be so lonely without you.’” She’s crying now but keeps going. “And she just said, ‘You have to be your own best friend. If you always remember that, you will always have someone there with you.’”
P.S. Did you know that Mindy Kaling's real name is Vera Chokalingam?
P.P.S. Who's secretly in love with Danny Castellano?

Girls paper dolls
Posted on 11:26 by gaurav kumar

Girls seems to be one of the most controversial shows in recent years, but I have to say, I really like it. The frank dialogue is totally hilarious, and it really captures a certain group of early twenty-somethings. (I also have a girl crush on Marnie.) What do you think? Love? Hate? Either way, you have to admit, these paper dolls are pretty rad.P.S. Downton Abbey paper dolls.

Mindy Kaling's new sitcom
Posted on 08:06 by gaurav kumar
Have you guys heard that Mindy Kaling will star in a new sitcom this fall? "The Mindy Project" is all about a quirky OB/GYN who's trying to figure out her messy dating life. As Salon points out, the premise sounds pretty typical, but Kaling is so awesome and funny (and Emmy-nominated) that the show sounds promising. Here's the trailer. Will you be watching the show?Friday, 13 April 2012
HBO's new show: Girls
Posted on 08:35 by gaurav kumar
This Sunday, HBO will premiere the new show Girls, about four broke twentysomethings trying to make their way in New York. Written, directed and starred in by Lena Dunham, and produced by Judd Apatow, Girls is "is a much scruffier show" than Sex & the City, says USA Today. I love that frank, funny, real girls are given a voice here, and the critics have been going crazy for it. Here's the trailer... Will you be watching on Sunday?Thursday, 23 February 2012
The Bachelor (with photos)
Posted on 10:25 by gaurav kumar
The Bachelor this season has been wildly entertaining. Have you been watching it? The show's premise is clearly insane, but it's like a train wreck where you can't look away. (Even Alex, who makes fun of me, now asks me to pause it if he goes into the kitchen. Busted.) So, let's take a minute to chat: Which of the final three women do you think should end up with Ben? Here are photos of the ladies...

Do or Don't: Black nail polish
Posted on 10:30 by gaurav kumar

The other day, I was watching the (surprisingly funny) show New Girl, and the gorgeous character Julia was wearing black nail polish. Instead of looking goth, her black polish looked grown-up and sexy. Since then, black nail polish has been popping up everywhere: pretty girls around town, celebrities at events, even the finalists on The Bachelor. :) What do you think? Would you wear it?(Photos by New Girl, Getty Images and The StreetStyle)
