Have a great weekend.

Posted on 09:37 by gaurav kumar
What are your plans for the weekend? I'm sooooo sleepy (feeling like this!) that I'll be falling asleep early tonight, but tomorrow we're hoping to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time this year. I'm also thinking of taking up knitting--do any of you knit? Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few great links from around the web...

I was so flattered and honored to appear in Lonny!

What the what? These are paintings.

Give your IKEA furniture a makeover.

Pin-up girls, before and after.

Now that's a cake.

Look at this amazing print!!!

Good to remember in an argument.

This kitchen shop is beautiful.

Vintage stickers.

Just ordered this shirt for the summer.

Pantone desserts.

Autobiography in five short chapters.

And if anyone's in the market for a nautical print: Max is now selling the ocean print from our bedroom makeover. xoxo

Plus, a song to kick off your weekend. Have a great one.

RedBall Project

Posted on 08:02 by gaurav kumar
For the past six years, artist Kurt Perschke has squeezed a huge red ball into cracks, gaps and alleys all around the world. The red ball has visited cities like Barcelona, Chicago, Toronto and Sydney, and it's now heading to England for the summer! (Reminds me of this children's story, do you remember it?)

Emerson Fry (formerly known as EmersonMade) is the fantastic fashion line based in New York City. They just launched their spring/summer collection, and it's gorgeous. Emerson's clothes are the type of breezy, chic clothes I always dreamed I'd wear when I grew up. Oh that orange dress! Be still my heart. Check it all out here. xoxo

On falling in love

Posted on 07:47 by gaurav kumar
Back in 1958, John Steinbeck, author of East of Eden, The Grapes of Wrath, and Of Mice and Men, got a letter from his teenage son Thom, in which Thom confessed that he had fallen desperately in love with a girl named Susan at his boarding school.

Steinbeck wrote this wise and wonderful letter back to him the same day...

Wednesday giveaway!

Posted on 12:00 by gaurav kumar
Today's giveaway is from LemLem, an amazing handcrafted clothing collection. When model/actress Liya Kebede discovered that weavers in her native country of Ethiopia were losing their jobs because of declining local demand for their goods, she started LemLem as a way to preserve the ancient art of weaving and help these traditional weavers thrive. (Look at their amazing dresses and bags!)

Today LemLem is offering this Mara Smock Shirt ($213), a lightweight, handwoven top with bold stripes and 3/4 length sleeves. The shirt comes in pink, blue or orange. Which color would you choose?

For a chance to win, please visit LemLem and leave a comment below. A winner will be chosen at random tomorrow. Good luck! xo Update: Michelle E. is our lucky winner.

Summer dress

Posted on 13:05 by gaurav kumar
Although this looks like a skirt and tee, it's actually a summer dress. How easy (and feminine!) to wear all the time, from picnics in the park to romantic dinners--and you could just stuff it in a suitcase for traveling. Wouldn't you love to live in it this summer?

Which color would you choose? (Pink is my fave.)
